What do you think?

Just put up some portraits for my friend Nathan's new book of poems he's putting out. In particular, I want to draw your attention to the headshot.

Do you like the edit of it? I'm in love with it but I would also like a non-artists opinion.

Love you guys,
Niall

Seems a little overdone to me. The high noise gives his skin an unnatural texture. Is it a close crop from the original? Need to see the original to see if it is an improvement.

Also a little awkward with him looking so far up, I'm almost more interested in seeing what he's looking at.

And Nathan-1343 would be my favorite cropped in landscape. The most interesting of the set.

Nathan-1290 is good too if he wants to go for a more personal and friendly image.

I agree with Andrew. I'm not sure I like the colors and such.

Although I love 1247, I think that would be great on the back cover of an odd book of poems. (not saying his book is odd.)

1343-but get those price tags out of there

1247-"Choose your handles"

Yea, your pictured one looks too tampered with. Keep it more natural.

I will add that the person I was doing these shots for wanted a vintage look for his back cover portrait. The blue and the extra grain that I pressed out of it are supposed to fit thematically with the book cover... but I can't fault anyone for not knowing that because I didn't write it! So yes, I agree that if it was just a portrait, it would be a tad overdone and I would definitely tone it down.

As for the ikea pictures, ALL of them are meant to convey a sense of irony, of detachment, and of being in ikea, because hey, who doesn't like walking through ikea? Meaning, the tags are meant to show, he's supposed to look uninterested and the colors are supposed to be muted and dullish.
But again, not knowing the intention of the photos will affect how we look at them!

Thank you for the comments everyone!
