I wish there were more people in college telling people that it's ok not to drink too.
It actually really bums me out that anyone not in college can just assume that pretty much just about everyone drinks (with a few exceptions of course).
Lame lame lame lame lame.

it's only lame if you focus on it. you know?
If it's just okay to drink, it's obviously okay not to drink too.
I don't see what the big deal is with drinking.
I DO see the big deal with breaking the law regarding drinking.
I don't see what the big deal is with the law and i don't see what the big deal is with drinking.
What I mean by saying that it's ok not to drink is just simply that some kids feel like if they aren't drinking at parties every weekend they will explode. Hence, It's ok NOT to drink, too.
Well, drunk driving is what...up in the top 5 causes of death to teenagers. I would say that is a big deal.
1) drinking underage
2) drinking over the legal limit
3) driving while drunk
I'm sure they realize that it's okay if they don't, but if that's what they want to do they aren't going to not do it. Unless we go and chain them up or something...
Lol, where those two posts yours too?
"To be honest...I never knew people that drank underage. I guess the people I chose to hang out with just knew that wasn't something we were going to do."
Wow, thats pretty incredible. Different world or seomthing.
Agreed with Trent.
Nathan, you really didn't know anyone who drank underage?
I know wayyyy to many people that do. :/
And yes paddy those two posts were mine but someone else was logged in, and I messed up, twice.
My only comment was about the legal age being 21. That's just such an arbitrary number. I'm in no way for more people drinking at my age because I personally don't like drinking, but I don't think the law makes much sense.
Most of the people I was posting about were people I WAS much better friends with and are now not at all prevalent in my life... people I used to go to school and church with and the like.
As far as me thinking 21 is arbitrary, I don't know how they got that number. At 18 we're old enough to go to war and choose the next leader of the free world, but cannot consume a beverage? Hmm..
Not that I ever plan to drink and want to be able to sooner, I just don't understand the rationale behind 21 as some magic maturity number.
Oh, and a lot of my post was toward people who CAN legally drink and just get wasted all the time. I was equally frustrated at that.
Eh, if they want to waste their time and health...
I mean, I agree that it's stupid...but stupidity will never leave this earth.
I know this discussion is no longer occurring actively, but here's my two sense.
Things like drinking, driving, voting etc. ages are in fact "arbitrary" in the sense that being 18 in and of itself denotes no particular ability or quality (i.e. maturity, responsibility, height, score in the high jump), but is a legally assigned limit. There is no large difference between being 17 years and 364 days old and being 18 in terms of ability and quality, but there is a legal difference, and legal limits are generally arbitrary. Not that there isn't logic behind a drinking age limit (fewer dead young adults is good sense), but the drinking age is just that-an age-and no other test applies. I believe the voting age was lowered to 18 because this was the age at which conscription into the military occurred. We could lower the alcohol limit, but--issues of personal freedom aside--young adults do lots of dumb stuff, and young adults (most of whom don't have health insurance) drinking means lots of public money spent on cleaning up their messes.
I knew of people who drank underage and who are now my good friends, but was never close friends with them whilst the underage drinking was happening. All my friends were nerds or Christians and teetotallers. It's possible. Just like having friends who don't have sex before they get married. Possible.
